A leather toolroll

Hand-stitching a leather toolroll.

I've wanted to take up leather crafting for awhile. It's another one of those built-for-the-long-haul analog things that appeals when one spends their whole career in tech.

Because I've started from zero and I have no idea what I'm doing, most of my early results are not great, but I'm enjoying it and learning.

This is one of those early efforts: a place to put all the leather punches and such that you need for this sort of work. I figured I need to learn how to saddle stitch better, and since it's only for myself, it's OK if it's not perfect.

This was my first effort. It was not good.

After my first effort, I was almost immediately sure I could do better and ready to try again. So shortly after I made a second version using better leather, and a system to let it fold up on itself using snaps. Pretty nifty. And the stitching is better.

The second iteration.

... and folded up.
... and folded up.
